Thanksgiving. One of America's most popular holidays. It's joyous occasion that brings together family and friends in a spirit of gratitude and togetherness. As the holiday approaches, Americans prepare for a day full of festivities, nice food, and family. Traditional dishes are presented on decorated tables: Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. People show their gratitude and what they're thankful for in life. It's a day of reflection, appreciation, and love.

Family members travel home during Thanksgiving break and students leave campus to spend the week with their loved ones. Even though it's a widely celebrated holiday in the States, it’s a holiday that many international students don’t celebrate in their home countries. And thus it’s a whole new experience for them.

A group of international students decided to soak up the Thanksgiving atmosphere in Chicago. Watch the video below to see what they're most excited for.

The iconic Route 66 starts in Chicago, Illinois, and goes all the way to Santa Monica, California. The beginning sign can be found in Chicago on the corner of Adams St. and S. Michigan Ave. This also marks the start of our journey through Chicago.

The L train rides over the city and is 102 miles long. The first L train was built in 1892.

We advice you to walk past the dark alleys in Chicago and to not enter them.

Skydeck tower gives you a clear view of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan. Lake Michigan however is so big, it's impossible to see the other side of it.

Skydeck Tower has a cabin completely made out of glass. It allows you to have an 180° view of the skyline of Chicago. Beware if you're afraid of heights!

A statue of Abraham Lincoln, Head of State, can be found in Grant Park. The statue attracts a lot of attention with its height of three meters.

In the middle of Maggie Daley Park is an ice skating rink where visitors can enjoy some ice skating with various skyscrapers around them. We visited the ice skating rink after our walk through Chicago and before we boarded a tourist boat.

The walk to the boat tour through Chicago at night is magnificent with many Christmas lights and decorations.

And a little bit of Verm in the midst of Chicago city.

The boat tour gave us a beautiful view of the Chicago skyline and was the perfect ending to an even more perfect day.

Unfortunately, ice skating didn't end well for everyone. An icepack was very much welcome at the end of the day.
